I visited the customer's home to assess the space for this furniture and collaborate with him on this kitchen design, incorporating 2 bookcases, a dining table, and 8 Bay chairs, which are all made from solid wood. This elegant pair of bookcases is crafted from locally sourced brown oak, with a chestnut backing. They were specifically designed to complement a Georgian kitchen, positioned on either side of a fireplace, as shown in the accompanying image. The project demonstrates how contemporary design can harmonize beautifully with historic architecture. Each bookcase features a straight side for practicality, fitting neatly into the alcove, while the opposite side and top are gracefully curved with steam-bent concave panels for aesthetic balance with the fireplace. The tops are made from 25mm steam-bent brown oak boards, and the curved side panels are crafted from 10mm steam-bent brown oak.
