Lauren Skunta’s new series explores the intersection of the human form and the materiality of the earth. Figures emerge through mineral paint and natural pigments, suspended betwee n life drawing and abstraction. Each pose becomes both a study of anatomy and a meditation on texture, weight, and presence. Rooted in traditions of observation, the works treat gesture not only as anatomy but as a textured landscape where line dissolves into surface. Through layers of pigment and mark-making, Skunta blurs the boundary between study and expression, inviting viewers to see the body as both subject and material. Ultimately, the series reflects on what it means to inhabit a body—to be observed, fragmented, and reassembled into a whole. Show more
