A small cabinet specimen displaying two fine Hausmannite crystals from the world famous N'Chwaning I mine at Kuruman in the Kalahari Manganese Field of Northern Cape Province, Sout h Africa. The crystals measure 1.5 cm and 0.9 cm on edge and form composite octahedral crystals, built from stacked and layered miniature versions of similar, millimetre-scale crystals, all in epitaxial alignment. The Hausmannite is a fairly matt, sooty black which contrasts well against a pale pink druse of well crystallised Andradite Garnet, dusted with fine-sucrosic white Calcite. Show more
