Hazel is a fast growing hedge plant, it's catkins give the first indication that spring is arriving. Once the catkins are pollinated the develop in oval fruits which hang in groups of one to four. The mature nut with its woody shell is a favourite of Squirrels and Dormice. Tolerant of most soil conditions.
