Hazelburn 10 Year 750ML is a triple-distilled, unpeated Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Representing just 10% of Springbank Distillery's total production time, this expression stands apart as one of Scotland's rarest production styles — a triple-distilled malt from Campbeltown's last surviving distillery, where 100% of the barley is floor-malted on site.Quick Facts: ABV: 46% | Origin: Campbeltown, Scotland | Age: 10 Years | Distillery: SpringbankProduction & HeritageSpringbank Distillery, founded in 1828 and family-owned by the Mitchell family for over five generations, is the last distillery in Scotland to carry out 100% of its malting on traditional floor maltings. Hazelburn is one of three distinct single malt lines produced at Springbank — alongside Springbank itself (lightly peated, two-and-a-half times distilled) and Longrow (heavily peated, double distilled). For Hazelburn, entirely unpeated barley is run through all three of the distillery's copper pot stills in a full triple distillation, yielding a lighter, creamier new-make spirit that is then matured exclusively in bourbon casks for a minimum of ten years. Non-chill filtered and bottled at a natural 46%, the whisky retains its full body and texture.Tasting NotesAroma: Sweet and distinctly tropical on the nose, with baked pineapple and lemon sherbet arriving first, followed by honeycomb and dried orange peel. Underneath, fragrant pears and fresh honey add a gentle, orchard-fruit sweetness.Taste: The palate opens with bright green apple and toffee apple sweetness, balanced by a savory, slightly vegetal quality at the mid-palate. Vanilla and a distinct Crunchie-bar malty honeycomb character build as the whisky develops, with a minerally, lightly saline thread running throughout.Finish: Medium to long, with a subtle earthiness giving way to salted caramel, ginger spice, and toasted coconut. Lingering mineral notes and a trace of forest-floor character anchor the close. How to Drink Hazelburn 10Best appreciated neat or with a few drops of water to open up the tropical fruit and honeycomb aromatics; the 46% ABV handles dilution well without losing structure. In cocktails, it brings an uncommon Campbeltown character: try it in a Highball with quality soda water, where the citrus and mineral notes shine with effervescence; in a Penicillin, replacing the usual Speyside base for a more coastal, honeyed variation; or in a Bobby Burns, where its toffee and green apple sweetness complements sweet vermouth and Bénédictine.Best For Scotch drinkers exploring Campbeltown beyond Springbank's peated expressions Gifting a whisky enthusiast who values rare, small-production single malts Building a comparative tasting flight of Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn Collectors seeking allocated releases from Scotland's most traditional distillery Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does Hazelburn 10 taste like? Hazelburn 10 delivers bright tropical fruit, green apple, and honeycomb sweetness balanced by mineral salinity and a savory undertone. The finish is warm with salted caramel, ginger, and toasted coconut. How does Hazelburn 10 compare to Auchentoshan? Both are triple-distilled and unpeated Scottish single malts, but Hazelburn 10 carries a distinctive Campbeltown minerality and saline edge that Auchentoshan's Lowland style typically lacks. Hazelburn is also non-chill filtered at 46% ABV, while many standard Auchentoshan expressions are bottled at 40% with chill filtration. Is Hazelburn 10 good for sipping neat? Absolutely — the 46% ABV and non-chill filtered bottling deliver full texture and complexity that rewards slow, neat sipping. A few drops of water can further unlock the tropical and honeyed aromatics.Where is Hazelburn 10 made? Hazelburn 10 is produced at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre Peninsula of western Scotland. Campbeltown was once home to over 30 distilleries and is recognized as one of Scotland's five official whisky-producing regions. What foods pair well with Hazelburn 10? Smoked salmon or cured fish complement the whisky's coastal minerality. Aged cheddar or Gruyère match the toffee and honeycomb sweetness. Apple tart or pear crumble echo the orchard-fruit character. Lightly salted dark chocolate highlights the salted caramel finish. Sushi or sashimi pair naturally with the saline, clean profile. What sizes does Hazelburn 10 come in? Hazelburn 10 is most commonly available in the standard 750ml bottle size.Is Hazelburn 10 worth the price? Hazelburn 10 positions as a mid-premium single malt, and its value is bolstered by genuine scarcity — it accounts for only 10% of Springbank's already limited output, making it consistently allocated and harder to find than many comparably priced Scotch whiskies. Why Hazelburn 10?What makes this whisky genuinely distinctive is its provenance: it is one of the only triple-distilled, unpeated single malts produced in Campbeltown, crafted at Scotland's last fully self-contained distillery where barley is floor-malted by hand. That artisanal foundation, combined with ten years in bourbon wood and a non-chill filtered 46% bottling, produces a whisky that marries tropical fruit brightness with a mineral, saline backbone unique to Campbeltown. With Hazelburn taking up such a small fraction of Springbank's production schedule, bottles are perennially difficult to source, making each release something of an event for single malt collectors. For drinkers who appreciate transparency in production and distinctiveness in flavor, Hazelburn 10 occupies a category nearly by itself.
