HEAD Lynx Tour Tennis String HEAD Lynx Tour is a shaped co-polyester monofilament built for aggressive baseliners and spin-oriented players who want maximum bite, heavy topspin, and the confident, low-powered control needed to attack targets all day. Its hexagonal profile and firm compound make it one of HEAD's most spin-focused strings — a choice that rewards full, accelerating swing mechanics with penetrating topspin balls and precise flat driving. Hexagonal (6-Sided) Profile — Aggressive Spin Generation — Unlike round-profile strings, Lynx Tour's six-sided cross-section creates defined edges that dig into and bite the ball at contact. These sharp edges displace slightly as the string deflects under load, then snap back quickly to impart additional rotation — the fundamental mechanism behind shaped-string spin production. Players who already hit with heavy RPM will see a measurable increase in topspin depth and kick compared to a round poly at equivalent tension. Firm Co-Poly Compound for Clean Control — Lynx Tour uses a high-density polyester compound tuned for firmness and precision rather than comfort. The low elasticity dampens trampoline effect, giving players with full, fast swings a controlled, predictable ball flight rather than the erratic over-power that softer strings can produce at high swing speeds. This makes it especially suitable for club-level and competitive players who want to swing out without sacrificing placement. Excellent Tension Retention — The dense monofilament construction holds tension reliably over many hours of play, maintaining its characteristic bite and control feel for longer than most multifilament or synthetic gut options. Regular string-breakers may still need to restring frequently due to notching, but players with moderate string durability will enjoy extended consistency between restrings compared to softer string categories. Low Power, High Placement Confidence — Lynx Tour's firm response suppresses power return and puts shot trajectory firmly in the player's hands. This is a deliberate design decision: players who generate their own pace through technique gain the precision to swing at 90–100% effort and trust that the ball will land inside the lines rather than sailing deep. It is a string that rewards committed, aggressive play rather than protecting hesitant swings. Ideal Player Profile — Best suited for intermediate-advanced to advanced players (NTRP 4.0–6.0) with full, modern topspin groundstrokes, fast swing speeds, and an aggressive baseline style. Particularly effective when strung in the mains of a spin-friendly 16×19 or 16×20 pattern — the string's edges work best when there is adequate lateral spacing for movement and snap-back. Specifications — Available in 17g (1.25 mm) and 18g (1.20 mm) gauges. Recommended tension 50–60 lbs; string toward the lower end (50–54 lbs) to allow maximum string movement and snap-back spin. Approximately 40 ft (12.2 m) per set. Lynx Tour is particularly effective in HEAD Speed and Boom frames with 16×19 patterns — the combination of open string spacing and the hexagonal profile creates a synergistic spin and control platform that suits the full-cut attacking style these racquets are designed for.
