There is a particular gold that gathers in late afternoon, low enough to catch every fold and crease of a room rather than flatten them, light that seems to fan outward from wherever it lands. Here, that fan is carved into the floor itself: four radiating bursts meet at sharp angles, each ray pressed deep enough to throw its own thin shadow, the whole surface reading like sand raked by wind that changed direction four times. Hand-tufted by the weavers of Jodhpur, the wool is carved rather than dyed into its pattern, so the gold deepens in every crease and lightens along every ridge. Set beneath a pair of sculpted oak tables, its rays hold a room's warmth without raising its voice. Beneath a Georgian cornice, or against the bare height of a concrete ceiling, the light keeps fanning regardless.
