FAQ If you encounter an issue where your device is unable to download a program, you can follow these steps to resolve it. 1. Check if the USB cable supports data transfer by verifying if the connected cell phone supports file transfer. 2. Connect the USB cable, press and hold the ‘USER’ key, then press the ‘RST’ key once. Finally, release the ‘USER’ key to initiate the code download. Upon downloading the code, if the screen does not respond? Connect the serial port and check whether the node is activated. If the node is not activated, refer to this link to activate it: https://docs.heltec.org/general/how_to_use_license.html. GNSS data is displayed as ‘0,0,0’ ? Confirm your hardware version, V1.1 has changed the power control pin of the GNSS chip (GPIO 3 is set to HIGH on). Please carefully review the schematic or refer to the corresponding hardware version’s example program. GNSS requires open outdoor environments or try with an external antenna. How can LoRa be useful in your home automation projects? LoRa technology offers a powerful solution for long-range, low-power wireless communication, making it ideal for home automation scenarios where Wi-Fi coverage is limited or unreliable. For example, imagine you want to monitor soil moisture in a field near your house. Although the distance isn’t far, the area may lack stable Wi-Fi connectivity. In this case, you can deploy a sensor node using an ESP32 microcontroller paired with a moisture sensor. This node collects data and transmits the readings once or twice a day via LoRa to another ESP32 device located within Wi-Fi range. The receiving ESP32 can then host a web server to display the moisture data in real time, allowing you to track conditions remotely from your phone or computer. This setup demonstrates how LoRa-enabled ESP32 boards can be used to build wireless sensor networks for environmental monitoring, garden automation, or remote asset tracking—all without relying on continuous Wi-Fi coverage. With LoRa’s extended range and minimal power consumption, it’s a practical and scalable choice for smart home and outdoor automation projects. Meshtastic firmware can’t operation the V1.1’s GNSS? This issue had been well solved in the last update. The firmware will automatically recognize the device version and operation it.
