Growing up amidst the beauty of dense forests, expansive mountain hollers, and forgotten towns, his heart slowly became intertwined with the natural wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains and greater Appalachia. Brian has a neurological dysfunction called aphantasia that impairs him from visualizing images inside his mind. Most of his ideas come in the form of ephemeral senses of place or hazy shadows which have slowly pushed him toward his distinct monochromatic style. He likes to weave together his love of folklore, the cosmos, and wildlife, creating a personal artistic mythology that taps into the ancient, otherworldly, and mysteriously magical vibes of Appalachia.
