A sterling silver catch all or ash tray. This is a beautifully made piece that is also very functional. The scalloped edge allows it to hold a cigar, and the gold ball in the center to knock the burnt ash with. The piece has a nice weight given the generously thick gauge of silver used in its production. This is not the largest of pieces, measuring three and a half inches across, so it can comfortably sit in most desired locations. It can also serve as a small vide poche on a bedside table or dresser. The piece was made by the French manufacturers Ravinet D'Enfert for Hermès. They were large scale silversmiths in France and were contracted by Hermès to make home goods for the luxury atelier during the mid 20th Century. The piece is fully singed on the edge, as well as being signed on the golf ball also. Condition is excellent throughout. Made in France, circa 1960's.
