A shrub rose that grows in the garden next to the studio in bloom from May until early autumn, so many blooms. I put fresh flowers in a vase for the house and these large double blooms are such a treat. The story of Hermione in Shakespeare’s “A Winter’s Tale” is for more about forgiveness than raging jealousy, when I look at these flowers I am reminded of the power being able to forgive. The importance of family and reconciliation, between parents and children is something to really cherish. This is a small mixed media work using acrylic and pen on Fabriano paper. The energy of this rose is portrayed against a warm orchre background. The throng of flowers in the glass vase almost erupts toward the viewer.
