This strange member of the dianthus family is best used as an evergreen groundcover that literally clings to the ground. Flowers? Get a magnifying glass! Herniaria is quite the uti litarian plant, as it has little, if any, ornamental value other than as a filler between stepping stones...great in well-drained acidic sites. You're just not going to be calling your gardening friends all excited about watching your rupturewort grow...just ain't happening.
