Bladesmith and artist Korben Bloomfield knows how to captivate an audience, and with this new, one-of-a-kind chef knife he has our full attention. In development for nearly a year the full-size, 264mm long by 60mm tall blade, is the first to be crafted from Korben's incredible hex mosaic damascus. A high-contrast coffee etching of the carbon steel alloys reveals the bright, high-nickel content 15n20 atop a canvas of dark 80Crv2 that forms the cutting edge as well. Each metallic hexagon has the power to mesmerize, and together, stretching from heel to tip, they form a mosaic unlike any we have seen. And that's just the beginning. Thin, hard, and razor sharp, the edge is versatile and dynamic, strong below convex bevels toward the tall heel for chopping and tough cuts, then slimming toward a pointed, needle-like tip for precision work and long, unwavering slices. A comfortable, rounded blade spine and choil complement a large, hand-filling handle to perform in both the pinch and hammer grips depending on the user's cutting style and task at hand. In beautiful York Gum burl capped with polished, black acrylic and a domed steel pin, the tapering, faceted wa-style handle is complete. A display stand is included.
