Our aromatic, flavor-forward Lucero Arbequina is grown and milled in California, blended lot by lot for harmony, then presented in a generous 750 ml bottle made for frequent use in the kitchen and at the table. A More Expressive Arbequina Arbequina is often described as a mild olive variety, but variety alone does not determine the character of an oil. Irrigation, growing conditions, and harvest timing all influence its aroma, flavor, bitterness, and pungency. We favor an earlier-harvest style with more aromatic presence and flavor than many shoppers may expect from Arbequina. Look for a sweet, fruity aroma, impressions of green apple and herbs, a clean, fresh flavor, and a lively pungent finish with toasted almond. Arbequina is pronounced ar-buh-KEE-na. Blended for Harmony Trees in different parts of an orchard mature at different rates. We taste individual lots—sometimes harvested only a week or two apart—and blend them to achieve balance and complexity. In a harmonious extra virgin olive oil, the aroma perceived on the nose, the flavor and bitterness experienced in the mouth, and the pungent finish felt in the throat should arrive with similar intensity. A strong aroma followed by little flavor is disappointing; forceful bitterness or pungency without sufficient fruit is equally out of balance. This careful blending gives our Arbequina enough character to enjoy as a finishing oil while preserving the versatility that makes it so useful every day. At Home in the Kitchen Use Arbequina for vinaigrettes and marinades, pan cooking, roasting, baking, or finishing vegetables, grains, legumes, fish, and grilled foods. Pour it over warm bread, smashed potatoes, or ripe tomatoes when you want the oil itself to be part of the flavor.
