In such a vast, quiet environment such as this – a person can rediscover a much-needed perspective and clarity. But be careful with aloneness, because the sweetest of solitudes can also swallow you up, bringing unwanted feelings of isolation and the fear of being forgotten. One singer cried out, “I just can’t make no connections!” But maybe we are always somehow connected. Someone once told me they could feel other people’s energy from miles away. Is that even possible? I have my doubts. But if it were possible, what would that mean? I guess it would mean that when you want to be alone - you are alone, and when you don't want to be alone, well, maybe somehow, you're not. I often imagine what the people I love are doing right now... Maybe they’re at their job, or patiently waiting at a stop light, cooking dinner, or pulling up to the window at a coffee shop. I wish I could take them to this incredible beach. And hey, maybe that’s what I’m doing. Who knows, maybe I am somehow … "with" them at some moment in time… like two people unknowingly looking at the moon or the same constellation - at the same time. Anyway, even if it's not true, even if it never happens, it's a nice thought. But I choose to believe that it does happen. Look at us! I’m here, and so are you.
