RATIO: 1 to 8 maximum PRICE: £100 per person LOCATION: Yorkshire Dales/West Yorkshire COURSE CONTENT - This two day (16 hour) course is designed to provide new and novice walkers with a solid foundation of the knowledge and skills that will allow them to plan, follow and enjoy their own adventures in the upland environments. Subjects covered will include - preparing for a day on the hills, walking skills, interpreting weather forecasts, choosing suitable a route, selecting appropriate equipment and clothing, understanding and using a map, navigation skills and strategies, emergency procedures and more. Suitability: This course would be ideal for those looking to gain or increase their knowledge and skills which will allow them to enjoy unguided walked in the countryside which they could plan themselves. No prior knowledge is required but may be of benefit. *Progression from this course would be to attend one of our dedicated navigation courses. REQUIREMENTS: This course involves 2 days of outdoor practical skills explanation, demonstration and client implementation. Those attending should have an adequate level of fitness needed for a full days walking in hilly countryside, and also have appropriate clothing and equipment for the conditions to gain the most from the course. Those attending should be in possession of all items listed on kit list (which will be sent out with information pack on booking). INCLUDED: Course leadership, planning, organisation and skills teaching by fully qualified and experienced mountain leader/course instructor.
