Leycestria formosa Also called chocolate berry, this rare and interesting multi-stemmed, semi-evergreen, columnar shrub grows to 6 feet tall. In the late summer and early fall it p roduces dangling clusters of soft, small, round, pink berries that turn dark purple when ripe. They have a subtle flavor akin to bitter chocolate mixed with raisin. This robust shrub, originally found growing in the lower altitudes of Tibet, is fast growing and pretty in the landscape, with clusters of white flowers with red purple bracts. One gallon size.
