This product works in conjunction with a hinge (purchased separately) to hold the table leaf in the horizontal position. Spring tension holds the brace open. Generally, two support s are recommended per leaf unless the drop leaf is very small. The overall length is 10-1/2". The part of the drop leaf or shelf that folds down must be at least 8". At one time, these were available in two sizes, but we can only get the 10.5" at this time. Historically these were used in conjunction with drop leaf table hinges which are no longer available.
