The Hinkley Cambridge ceiling light is a flush-mounted surface ceiling fitting from Hinkley. Made from solid brass with cast components and a clear optic glass shade, it brings a classic New England aesthetic to overhead lighting for indoor spaces. The design centres on a shallow, bowl-shaped clear glass diffuser with pronounced vertical fluting and ribbing. A polished brass circular frame with a continuous beaded border secures the glass, while a matching brass finial anchors the bowl and creates the characteristic scalloped silhouette where glass meets metal.Construction uses solid cast brass turnings and beaded ball details around a central column; internal dual lamp holders are visible through the clear optic glass. The polished brass finish and visible hardware reinforce an ornate, traditional character. The fluted, clear glass diffuser is intended to soften and distribute light while preserving clarity of the internal bulbs, making the fitting suitable for general ambient ceiling illumination. With an IP20 rating it is specified for indoor dry areas. This fitting is supplied with a 2‑year manufacturer warranty. The product data does not specify included lamps or an integrated driver; confirm bulb compatibility and any dimming requirements at the point of order. It is designed for direct surface mounting to a ceiling.Lighting Design Online recommends the Hinkley Cambridge when you want a considered, traditional ceiling solution that reads as crafted rather than decorative excess. We provide practical, project-friendly guidance to ensure the fitting is specified with the right lamps and installation details, giving you confidence in the aesthetic outcome and long‑term performance.
