HiPP Hypoallergenic (HA) Stage PRE, German version HiPP sells the HA line as a special formula for babies who don't tolerate standard cow's milk formula well, to be used under medi cal supervision. Stage PRE is a complete formula and starts at birth, on its own or alongside breast milk. The difference to a standard HiPP formula is the protein. It arrives broken down. What's in it Extensively hydrolyzed whey protein. The cow's milk protein is split into smaller peptides than in a standard formula. Lactose only. All of the carbohydrate comes from lactose, the same carbohydrate that dominates in human milk. No maltodextrin, no starch. GOS prebiotics from lactose. Lactobacillus fermentum cultures, originally isolated from human milk. The ready-to-feed version doesn't contain them. PRE or Stage 1 Both start at birth. Stage 1 has a slightly higher energy content and comes in a German and a Dutch version. Stage PRE exists only in the German line.
