Instrument Spotlight: June Kuramoto brought the traditional Japanese koto into a modern band setting, while Hiroshima also incorporated taiko drums, shakuhachi, saxophone, keyboards, and electric rhythm instruments. Studio Story: The band’s first professional sessions took place at Ocean Way in Hollywood, and June Kuramoto later recalled being overwhelmed by the 32-track studio environment as engineers spent hours experimenting with microphones to properly capture the koto.
