Our Hive Insert fits inside our Hive pod to provide a perfect nesting, propagating and hibernating habitat for a variety of solitary bees. Made of natural cellulose, each oval inse rt contains both 6mm and 8mm x 150mm tubes and is designed to last for 1 season. After use, the oval insert and tubes may be easily recycled or composted. Why Depth MattersWe've specifically designed our Hive pod to work with 150mm long tubes because they provide the optimal depth to insure protection from excessive temperatures, wind and rain. Even more importantly, this tube length insures that both male and female offspring develop. Bee hotels with shorter tubes often produce only male bees. To learn why, please check out our blog. PlacementWe highly recommend positioning the Hive pod in a sheltered area from weather with the face pointed toward the southeast.
