This strawberry margarita-inspired imperial sour ale is sure to get the fiesta started. After aging in tequila barrels for the heat and spice you’d expect, we added agave, limes, strawberries, and sea salt to mimic the vacation-worthy flavors. The key player here is smoked beech wood-infused malt, giving rich, smoky character. A combination of rye malt, giving spice, and time in rye barrels, lending boozy notes of burnt caramel, gives balance to the charactistically sweet notes of a barleywine ale.
