Details: The HOGAR pendant is 100% handcrafted in Cordoba, South of Spain from 925 sterling silver with an 18Kt solid gold round plaque in the center. Charms Measurements: 13mm diameter Length of the chain is 50cm The word 'hogar' is hand painted in black enamel one by one. Each gold piece is set by expect hands so it never falls off. All the pendants are different and unique. Story: The word 'hogar' (home in English) comes from the latin 'Focus' which means fire, the element from which a family or community build their home around. The HOME medallion is inspired by the Roman Temple of Vesta, godess and protector of the Sacred Fire. The story tells that an eternal flame burnt per centuries inside the Vesta's Temple as symbol of protection and wellbeing of the Empire. The temple's most recognisable feature is its circular footprint. All temples to Vesta were round, and had entrances facing east to enhance the connection between Vesta's fire and the sun as sources of life. Circling the exterior of the temple were twenty Corinthian columns. There is obviously a close relationship between the symbolism of house and home. Both symbolise the ultimate manifestations of private place in the world. However, home is more an idea, a feeling of protection, the acknowledge that there is no need for pretentions or efforts when in home. Because home is not really a physical place, home is the fire and the warmth in that person or community.
