This hogging cutter is designed and manufactured for cutting aluminum sheets on 24" L.S. Barker wood planer. The carbide inserts are specially graded for cutting aluminum. Feautures of the Design 1. Specially Graded Carbide Inserts The carbide grade for aluminum are tough and sharp to avoid galling or smearing the soft metal. These inserts have a high rake angle and polished cutting edges to reduce friction and prevent material buildup (which aluminum is prone to). 2. High-Helix or Shear Angle A shear or helical angle on the cutterhead helps "slice" through the aluminum rather than scrape, improving cut quality and chip evacuation. This also reduces the risk of vibration and minimizes surface chatter. 3. Insert Geometry and Clearance The insert have enough clearance angle to avoid rubbing. Sharp, positive rake geometry is typical for aluminum to allow clean shearing. 4. Cutter Body Design Are precisely balanced to run at high RPM safely. Made from alloy steel for high strength and reduced inertia. 5. Feed and Speed Considerations Aluminum cutting requires lower feed rates and carefully controlled speeds.
