The Hogy Protail Paddle is a pre-rigged soft plastic swimbait built to deliver dependable action and durability across a wide range of inshore and offshore applications. Molded around heavy-duty VMC Barbarian hooks, each bait uses Hogy's custom blend of virgin BASF plastic to balance toughness, flexibility, and swimming action. UV infusion increases visibility in low-light conditions, while the oversized eye and subtle scale pattern complete its natural baitfish profile. A pronounced tapered body and weight-forward, hydrodynamic shape help the Protail Paddle cast efficiently and track cleanly through current, depth, and faster retrieves. The flat face helps prevent rolling and allows the paddle tail to engage immediately, producing a consistent kick at slow, moderate, and fast speeds. Balanced body geometry keeps the lure swimming naturally whether it is cast and retrieved, slow-rolled, jigged, swung through current, or fished vertically. The Protail Paddle system scales from lighter finesse-oriented inshore models to larger versions designed for heavier current, deeper water, and offshore fishing. Models 5.5 inches and larger incorporate Hogy's reinforced Battle Pocket, which helps protect the hook channel from damage caused by hard strikes and violent head shakes. Combined with heavy-duty VMC Barbarian hooks and durable plastic construction, the Protail Paddle provides a ready-to-fish system for everything from striped bass and snook to tarpon and tuna. Smaller Protail Paddles provide a compact profile for lighter inshore presentations, while larger and heavier models provide additional casting weight, depth control, and hook strength for strong current, deep water, and offshore applications. When fish are keyed in on a specific bait size, start by matching the Protail Paddle to the available forage. From there, choose enough weight to comfortably reach and maintain the depth you want to fish. In deeper water or stronger current, moving to a heavier Protail can improve contact and control without requiring a completely different presentation. Videos:
