A. Hyatt Mayor (1901–1980), the renowned former Curator of Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was a key scholar who helped contextualize Hokusai's work for Western audiences . Mayor authored the introduction and provided the selection and captions for this significant 48-page publication (Vol. 43, No. 1, Summer 1985).
