Behind the Art I love painting skies - something about their dreaminess and sense of possibility captivates me. Sometimes they’re simply beautiful to look at, and other times you can write so much meaning into them. I was commissioned to paint this piece as part of the art rollout for a song called “Holidaze” by rapper Lecrae featuring Jon Bellion. In my interpretation, the song is about how we often seek “paradise” through worldly pleasures and escapism, only to discover that true peace cannot be found by running from our problems, but by looking inward. Through colour and form, I aimed to create depth within the sky - those fiery, fierce oranges and pinks symbolize our inner selves: passionate, creative, strong, and pure magic - not to be ignored or escaped, but honoured and cherished. 10x10in | Oil on canvas
