An evergreen tree of medium size with spiky dark glossy green leaves, it produces small white flowers in spring that are then followed by bright red berries in the autumn/winter; a dding a wonderful pop of colour to the drab and colder months. Growing Conditions:A very hardy species.Tolerant of exposed sites and shade. Prefers neutral to acid peaty soils. Value To Wildlife:Berries important for thrushes and other birds, which also shelter among its evergreen leaves. Important Note:This is a deciduous tree and so will shed its leaves in autumn, in order to protect itself from the cold winter weather.
