Holt Physics: Interactive Tutor PC MAC CD teaches practice 20 modules problems Type: Application Platform: Windows/Mac Publisher: Holt Released: 1998 Media: CD Building success in problem solving Only the Holt Physics Interactive Tutor gives you a chance to practice key problem-solving techniques in an interactive environment. As you work through a problem, any mistakes you make are pointed out and explained during the process. Its like having your own private tutor to help you with physics. Each of the 20 modules covers a key type of physics problem that can be applied to the workings of the Rube Goldberg device shown on the introductory screens. First, a short ani-mation recaps the basics of a concept in a dynamic presenta-tion. The basic steps to solving a specific type of problem are explained. Initially, the program shows how to do a step and explains why the step is necessary. Then, you do the same step but with a different problem. Throughout the process, you will interact with the program by clicking objects to choose variables and values and by moving objects, such as parts of a diagram. The timing and placement of these interactions are carefully designed to strengthen skills in the following critical areas: • construction of diagrams • selection of axis systems • resolution of vectors into components • vector addition • assignment of values to variables • assignment of signs to values • assignment of directions to vectors and other quantities • choice of equations • substitution of values in equations For Windows (32-bit Systems) / Mac (Power Macintosh: OS 9 or Below) [*Please review compatibility/platform sections in 'What You Get']
