Our participating artists received identical blank birdhouse to customize, paint, sculpt, etc., to create a work of unique expression. A home is generally a place that is close to the heart of the owner, and can become a prized possession. Places like homes can trigger self-reflection, thoughts about who someone is or used to be or who they might become. Laura Buss began studying art at the School of Visual Arts in New York, with a focus in photography. But she soon succumbed to the lure of the wider world, dropped out and traveled, and worked as a painter of signs and portraits. Her craft took her into varied directions, including an ongoing career in tattooing, to return to a heavy focus on oil painting and figurative work. She is based in San Francisco. This piece will be on exhibit through August 9, 2014 and will be shipped within a week of the exhibition closing date.
