Own a piece from my exhibition "Reflecting on my Roots"! "Homework on Hold" captures my struggle to balance schoolwork with my love for rest and creativity during my private school years. I often fell asleep before finishing my assignments; while they weren’t always difficult, the pressure made me choose dreaming or creating over stressing about homework. The paper under the blanket symbolizes the unfinished notes I let slip away prior to falling asleep. Waking up at 4 AM to rush through assignments became my routine, simply because I knew that if I was too tired I could not put my best effort into the work. This piece reminds me of the struggle I had finding balance between my responsibilities and creativity at the time.
