Lana began planning the album just two months after releasing her third studio album Ultraviolence (2014) Del Rey coll aborated with producers including Daniel Heath, Rick Nowels, Emile Haynie and Justin Parker. The singer revealed the album title to Billboard in January. "It's very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise," she said.
