FABRICS: 100% WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool available in Wool Denim or Jacquard FEATURES: All Fabrics, as usual, 100% WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool Full-front double zipper for easy on/off. Double-zip means the front can be open at top and/or bottom but still zipped in the middle Side access with long side zippers for ventilation, mobility, and access to belt or internal pockets. Elastic tab and button at bottom of zips can secure unzipped sides to prevent flapping Dual handwarmer pockets with slot-button closures Two large zippered chest pockets Two Internal zippered pockets situated behind hand warmer pockets Large hood with rear cinch for adjustability and 100% wool drawcords. The hood is large enough to protect the face from weather coming from any direction ... even weather coming from the front if you walk with your head down. Once you've been out in sideways sleet and the wool is keeping the weather off your face, you'll be sold on oversized hoods Internal draw cord to cinch at waist. 100% WeatherWool fiber wool knit cuffs for a secure seal at the wrist Mil-spec water-resistant thread throughout Signature slot buttons are used throughout. WeatherWool is always MADE IN USA 100% SHIPPING STATUS: Currently shipping in-stock items. VERSATILITY: Works equally well for travel, outdoor use, and daily wear Comfortable across wide temperature ranges (approx. 0°F–50°F with layering) Excellent in wind and rain (especially with layering) From active movement to seated comfort When sitting or riding, opening the side zips is more comfortable than hiking up the sides or opening the entire front as is often necessary with a typical garment. Seat belts can be secured under the front panels, enabling access to outside and inside pockets. Great for paddling, driving, airplanes ... the front rests across the lap and center zip can still be fully open, fully closed, or partly open at any point Side zips are great for maternity wear! ANECDOTES: One very frequent traveler told me that, since he got his Anorak (same hood), he sleeps in the airport instead of getting a hotel room for long layovers. On the total opposite end of the use spectrum, pictured on this page is Alaskan outdoors professional Bret Bohn of TV's Mountain Men, who wears his Charcoal Denim HoodOrak in some frightful conditions. He pairs it here with the Watch Cap and Neck Gaiter in Brown. Advisor Ron Spomer was the first to review the HoodOrak Advisor JR Morrissey sort of sprung the HoodOrak on me, unexpectedly, and at first I wasn't so sure we'd make more than one. But JR said it was logical to combine the favored features of the Anorak and the Hooded Jacket, so ... and then Spomer made his video ... no going back at that point! CARE AND CLEANING: Wool’s anti-static properties help make it self-cleaning and odor-resistant, so it should not need frequent washing. It may not even need rare washing. If your wool does not seem dirty, don't feel obligated to clean it ... even if you have not cleaned it for years. More details about spot cleaning and submersion washing can be found on our care and cleaning page. Page Updated 22 July 2026 by Ralph
