What's stuntman Sonny Hooper's reaction when he learns the record for a fall is 223 feet? "I'll go 224," he says. Burt Reynolds plays Hooper, at work on The Spy Who Laughed at Dang er. His wife (Sally Field) hopes it's his last film. The new stunt team member (Jan-Michael Vincent) prods him to try a risky rocket-car leap. Sonny intends to have the last laugh. The film's a natural for Reynolds, who broke into movies doing stunts, and for director Hal Needham (Smokey and the Bandit, Stroker Ace).
