It grows rapidly, making it excellent for absorbing excess nutrients and helping control algae. Appearance: Hornwort has long, branching stems covered in fine, feathery green leaves that resemble soft pine needles. It lacks true roots but develops modified leaves that can anchor it into substrate if desired. Habitat: Naturally found in lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers, Hornwort floats beneath the surface or forms dense mats in freshwater environments. Aquarium Use: Hornwort is commonly used as a background plant or a floating cover for fry and shy fish.
