HORRID MASS "Nauseating Ecstatic Degeneration" CD (Memento Mori 2026) The stunning debut full-length by this U.S. band. The entity known as Horrid Mass was formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, back in 2022 by former members of Pig’s Blood and Carnal Ruin with the intent to channel the genre’s most barbaric traits and push the extremities of its sound forward through experimentation, atmosphere and dissonance. While drawing from the genre’s progenitors, Horrid Mass craft something wholly their own, shamelessly bludgeoning sound coalesce with grating noise and atmosphere to present something both primitive and hostile. Rooted in tradition yet striving to experiment, Horrid Mass exist in a furious state where structure and collapse are simultaneously at odds. Following the “Formless Dread” demo (2023), the band now presents their debut full-length, Nauseating Ecstatic Degeneration, which definitely is a more fully realized version of their sound; a total descent into filth, chaos and sonic ruin, presenting Horrid Mass at their most punishing and immersive.
