Hosta is named after the Austrian botanist Nicholas Thomas Host. Commonly known as shade loving perennial plants, famous for their foliage, but worth knowing, some have really amaz ing flowers. They can be known as Plantain Lily, and are slow growing, but their substantial foliage makes them resistant to some insects, slugs. Mix with other perennials in beds and borders or you can use for underplanting of rose bushes and shrubs. Great for containers. Pandor's Box is a fabulous miniature hosta.
