Houjicha 焙じ茶 - 50g Houjicha, with its roasted aroma, earthy flavour and smooth mouthfeel, is a popular tea from Japan. Often mistaken as a black tea due to its appearance, Houjicha is actually a green tea as it follows the same processing as sencha. This houjicha is from Wazuka, a small tea town with only about 3,000 residents, but it produces approximately half of the Uji-cha tea leaves grown in Kyoto Prefecture. Aimed to create delicious Japanese teas sustainably, our farmer opted for a natural growing environment and only adds the tea trimmings back into the garden.
