AllerGuard down products use exclusively white, hand-selected Polish Class I goose down. 100% goose down is highly valued for its exceptional lightness and excellent thermal insulation properties. Only Class I down should be used in duvets. Lower grades are suitable for filling decorative cushions or upholstered furniture and should not be used in the manufacture of bedding. Unfortunately, products containing lower-grade down are still available on the market. All AllerGuard pillows have three chambers. The two outer chambers are always filled with new, white Polish 90% goose down. The filling quantity and composition of the inner chamber vary according to the size and firmness of the pillow and are specified for the selected variant. The down percentage indicates the proportion of down in the filling. For example, a filling containing 70% down consists of 70% down and 30% feathers. Feathers have limited insulating properties and are relatively heavy, but work well as a supportive material in pillow fillings. There are two types of down on the market: new down and recycled down. Only new down provides the long product life and safety required by AllerGuard, which is why we use new down exclusively. Recycled down is unfortunately often used in lower-cost products. It may contain residues from previous use which, if not thoroughly removed, can create conditions for bacteria and odours: House dust mites and skin flakes: Residues of human skin and microorganisms that may previously have been present in the bedding. Sweat and oils: Natural body oils that may have been absorbed by the down over time. Organic dust: Degraded keratin particles from the feathers that have broken down into fine dust through wear. Old detergent residues: Accumulated traces of detergent and fabric softener from previous washing. The pillow is made using AllerGuard Original fabric, so there is no need to purchase an additional allergen-proof pillow protector. A normal cotton pillowcase is sufficient. AllerGuard down products are supplied by one of Poland's major down suppliers, and we use exclusively white, hand-selected Polish Class I goose down. Please note that people are generally not allergic to feathers or down themselves, but rather to dust in the down and feathers and to residues of biological material. These can cause symptoms, which is why the oxidation value is important. The down used in our pillows and duvets has a fill power of 850 CUIN. The oxidation value is < 4.2 mg/100 g, which is an indicator of the cleanliness of the down and the thorough washing and rinsing process. All our products are certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and tested for harmful substances. The products are suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
