How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord,Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!What more can He say than to you He hath said,To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?The Christian life is a life of faith. The object of our faith is the wonderful person, the Lord Jesus Christ and his full and complete salvation. Our “faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). When we hear the word, something within us rises up to believe what we’ve heard, and spontaneously “the faith” becomes “our faith”. In this collection of “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs” we are encouraged to pursue the Lord in full assurance of faith. Our love for Him increases and the comfort in times of trial also increases, as we spend our days beholding Him and breathing Him in. We rejoice in Him, praise Him, and enjoy His full salvation freely. Thus we are enabled to live Christ, our victory! Our prayer is that all who hear these hymns and spiritual songs would have their faith strengthened, and that in every place their faith toward God would go out (cf. 1 Thessalonians 1:8). Show more
