Watch the recording → Let’s make one thing clear, Matthew is not a programmer—he is a designer. And he doesn’t think you need to be programmer in order to learn how to talk to your computer. Conquering his fear of the command line was the single most empowering part of his career as a designer (or so he says). In this workshop, Matthew will be focus on practical examples and share real life scenarios where he uses the command line to support his work as a brand designer. We’ll ask questions like: Have you ever wished you didn’t have to open up Photoshop just to resize an image? What if you could live trace an image without opening up Illustrator? What if you didn’t have to manually compare the contents of two identical folders? Spoiler alert: you can do all of this in the command line. Learning Outcomes Learn what the heck the command line is Learn some basic terminology (helpful for searching the web for answers or installing new tools) Learn how to resize, crop, or change the resolution of images without even opening Photoshop! Discover how you can use other tools in the command line (like taking screenshots of websites or live tracing images!) Instructor Bio Matthew is a Brooklyn based designer and a self proclaimed amateur in everything he does. He is an associate at Louise Fili Ltd where he draws fonts and builds brand identities.
