Moon phases round the rim A row of moon phases runs down the right side of this ring, white on black, from a thin crescent through to a full disc. The centre is a royal blue field holding a wolf head in white and grey, drawn in profile with the mouth open and angled upwards. The lettering above it stretches a single vowel out at length, so the word runs on the way a howl runs on in the air. The long held note Howls have a shape. They open, hold a long steady note, then slide down or split into harmonics towards the end. That held middle is the part doing the travelling, and it carries enough of the individual voice for wolves to recognise one another across open ground with nothing at all in sight. Stack several of those voices at different pitches and a handful of animals can sound like a crowd. Round the lower half of the ring the pack line is stitched in white capitals, a werewolf pun with its edge left in, while the blue centre pulls the eye back to the wolf.
