I obtained this particular cultivar from a dear friend of mine, Ara. The intriguing story behind this cultivar involves a mix-up, as it was mistakenly sold to her as Hoya 'Svetlana'. To an inexperienced Hoya collector, the resemblance might seem uncanny, but having grown both plants here in our greenhouses, I can attest to their distinct differences.Both types of Hoya boast somewhat succulent leaves that taper to a pointy end. However, this cultivar exhibits unique characteristics. If grown in low light, the leaves tend to be slightly thinner, while in a bright environment, they have no difficulty developing a thicker form. What sets this one apart further is the beautiful maroon margin it produces when nurtured in bright light.I can't recommend this cultivar enough to all Hoya enthusiasts. Its striking appearance and responsive growth make it a fascinating addition to any collection. For optimal results, I strongly advise growing it in bright, shaded light. This will allow the plant to thrive and showcase its distinct features, making it a rewarding experience for both novice and seasoned Hoya collectors alike.
