Ça n’est pour lui pas une option : né au Québec, infatigable voyageur, il connaît depuis l’enfance les fortes chaleurs comme le froid qui pétrifie, et toutes les nuances entre ces deux extrêmes. À chaque nouveau projet, il commence d’ailleurs par arpenter le site, et demande à ses clients d’en apprécier avec lui les changements de saison. La contemplation est une donnée du projet. « Au Québec, en hiver, l’infini n’est pas si loin », dit-il. Plutôt que contrer ces variations, Pierre Thibault s’en fait l’interprète… Et ainsi son projet fait d’un environnement, un milieu. This is not an option for him: born in Quebec, a tireless traveller, he’s known from childhood both intense heat and petrifying cold, and all the nuances between these two extremes. For each new project, he begins by exploring the site, and asks his clients to join him in appreciating the changing seasons. Contemplation is a fundamental aspect of the project. “In Quebec, during winter, infinity isn’t far away,” he says. Rather than opposing these variations, Pierre Thibault interprets them.. turning an environment into a milieu. In this new special issue, L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui offers a journey through Quebec’s natural environment, as paced by the architect, in the heart of which he delicately places houses, artistic installations, and schools – among others.
