Hussein was born in Isiolo, in the Bula Pesa area. He attended a local primary school known as Wabera Primary School, here he attained formal education until the level class seven. With finance being scarce in his family he dropped out of school and secured a job as a watchman at a petrol station. He worked at this job for five years. During this time, he faced a lot of challenges, however he managed to make ends meet.After a few years, Hussein fell in love and got married. Together with his wife they were blessed with four children—two boys and two girls. He felt his life was full, his only challenge was educating his children because his meagre earnings were only enough for food and housing. Unfortunately, misfortune still came knocking in 2018 tradgedy struck, his wife passed away; leaving him as the sole provider for his family. With no stable source of income, Hussein was forced to beg in town just to put food on the table.His struggles multiplied when one of his daughters, who is mentally challenged, gave birth to four children. With no one else to support them, Hussein took them under his care, stretching his already limited resources. Now, in his old age, he not only battles hunger but also the responsibility of raising his grandchildren.When we visited Hussein’s home, the extent of poverty was heartbreaking. It was clear that he needed urgent assistance. To ease his burden, we enrolled him in the Mama Ibado Charity Seniors Feeding Program, ensuring he receives monthly food supplies.But Hussein’s needs are growing.
