Tunion poplar is a fast-growing, deciduous tree created by crossing different species of poplar to combine vigor and adaptability. In North Alabama, these trees can reach 40–60 fee t in as little as 10–15 years, making them popular for quick shade, windbreaks, or biomass plantings. They have an upright form with broad, triangular leaves that flutter in the wind, providing a pleasant, cooling effect. Tulip poplars tolerate a wide range of soils but thrive best in deep, moist, well-drained ground, and they benefit from full sun.
