Summer tends to be the most noteworthy season because of the terminal inflorescences of lime-colored flowers that bloom for weeks at a time. For winter interest, flower heads can be left on once they turn brown to add texture. Panicle hydrangeas often tolerate a myriad of growing conditions, including tolerances to urban sites, full sun, and better cold hardiness, but do prefer being kept cool (attainable with a layer of mulch). 'Limelight' was selected for its conical, large flower heads that fade to a rosy-pink, dense habit, reddish fall color, and stiff stems that hold flowers erect. This particular form has been shaped and pruned to grow as a single trunk tree.
