Instead of tracking just traditional rowing stats, HMI looks at three essential elements of rowing — Power, Precision, and Endurance — and combines them into your HydroMetrics Index (HMI Score). The result is a rolling 30-day snapshot of your peak performance, designed to recognize breakthroughs and keep you motivated. How It Works Your HydroMetrics Index highlights your personal bests and offers a score out of 1000 that reflects your best efforts on your Hydrow. There are 3 separate metrics that make this up and each score updates automatically after your workouts, but only your top efforts over the past month count toward the Index. That means your recovery rows of off days won’t bring down your overall score and allow you to do them without worry about a drop in your HMI. Precision measures how closely your technique matches the ideal rowing stroke. A new score is calculated after every eligible row. Power reflects your strongest output across seven consecutive peak strokes. This metric only updates if you set a new personal record (PR) in the last 30 days. Endurance shows how long you can sustain performance, measured by your best five-minute stretch. Like Power, this only updates if you achieve a new PR in the last 30 days. Together, these 3 metrics combine to create a fuller picture of your rowing performance, tailored to your age and gender, so comparisons are fair and meaningful to your workout goals. To get a HydroMetric Index Score, your workout history requires at least one fully-scored workout in the last 30 days. Only full rowing sessions with an active leaderboard are eligible. Workouts like warmups, cooldowns, and On the Mat sessions are excluded because they are not focused on rowing performance and don’t provide the consistent effort needed to calculate Power, Precision, or Endurance. Paused or aborted workouts are also excluded because stopping early or leaving significant time remaining can affect the accuracy of the data. By only counting completed, rowing-focused workouts, your HMI score reflects a fair and reliable measure of your best efforts.
