The Spalted Maple was purchased from www.thelumbershack.com Other Woods Used: 7/8" Redwood Burl for the medium dark pieces (fins) and top of the head. 3/4" thick Spanish Cedar for the shadow between the upper and lower shell, 3/4" thick Walnut for the dark scales, 3/4" thick Aspen for the white of the eye.A Wonder Wheel was used for adding texture. Suggested Blades: Gold #5 for Redwood or any softwood. Platinum Plus #5, Platinum Plus #3 , Platinum #5, for the hardwoods.
